Maisey

Maisey is a 3 1/2 year old Labrador that unfortunately fell while playing with a ball in the park and fractured her elbow in July 2010. Maisey received surgery 2 days later to repair the fracture using pins and plates, she was then on strict cage rest to allow the fracture to heal. We first assessed Maisey at the end of July and started her on treatment plan that included physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. Maisey has made great progress and were happy to report that her recent x-rays have showed good fracture healing and we hope that she will soon be strong enough to play with her sister again.

Henry

Henry Hedgehog had a tumour on his spinal cord which was removed in 2008. This resulted in neurological problems causing foreleg and hind leg weakness and now more recently weight gain as well.  Henry was started on a twice weekly program to regain the strength and co-ordination in his legs as well as some much needed weight loss. Henry has made great progress and although he hates getting his ears wet secretly he enjoys swimming! His sister now joins him in the pool as well much to his delight. Well done hedgehog

Shadow

Shadow first came to Chapel Farm after an injury to his cruciate ligament which required surgery to repair and lots of after care and hard work at home to help keep him quiet to allow the healing process to begin! Shadow began treatment in our underwater treadmill and a home exercise plan which Mum and Dad are now very good at! Shadow has made a fantastic recovery and we only hope he continues to carry on wagging his tail like he does.

Kerry

Kerry has been a regular patient here at Chapel Farm Rehab; she first came to us in October 2009 after having surgery on her right hind leg (Femoral head and neck excision). We rehabilitated her with the use of the underwater treadmill and rehab exercises. Then in February 2010 Kerry needed further surgery on her opposite hip joint which resulted in her having a Total Hip Replacement. We started Physiotherapy Treatments post operative, and then we slowly progressed onto Hydrotherapy treatments as well. Recovery has been long and slow but Kerry has now made amazing progress. Well done Kerry we are very proud of you, keep up the good work!

Ruby

Ruby has been nominated dog of the month due to the great recovery she has made and the extra special care she has received at home from mum! Ruby ruptured her cruciate ligament in her knee joint and needed surgery to help correct this. We rehabilitated ruby through her recovery and are now happy to report that she has made great progress and is back using her leg well. Well done

Jess

Jess came to us after having complications from an old injury she received as a young puppy from being hit by a motor bike 7 years previously. Initially Jess started physiotherapy and then hydrotherapy in our underwater treadmill twice weekly. We needed to build up muscle mass and increase range of movement in her hip and thigh area. Jess then progressed on to treatments in the swimming pool and now comes once weekly for maintenance.

Mask

Mask came to Chapel Farm after having surgery on his cruciate ligaments in both his knees in a very short space of time. Mask was walking but still had problems fully weight bearing and had lots of muscle wastage. Along with some rehab exercises and lots of work in our underwater treadmill Mask has now made a great recovery and is finally back playing with his friends in the park again. Well done  Mask, our most handsome client!

Midget

Midget came to us after having an operation on his femur. He was very painful and walking around on 3 legs which he was more than happy to do! We now have a 4 legged dog back after making his leg more comfortable with ultrasound treatments, massage, stretches, rehab exercises, hydrotherapy and lots of hard work from us and his family!! Midget is a new and improved dog now and is back to his usual cheeky self chasing cats! Well done Midget!

Caffrey

Caffrey came to Chapel Farm Rehab after having surgery on both his knees! He has made amazing progress and is now walking and swimming very well. Along with physiotherapy ,hydrotherapy  and great work from Dad at home we have helped him to regain muscle mass and range of movement  he had lost post surgery. Caffrey has taken like a duck to water and thoroughly enjoys his sessions. He is now strong enough that he is able to retrieve his toys on his own from the water and his owner would like to return him to swimming in the local reservoir which is something he never thought possible! We wish Caffrey and owner lots of many happy walks and swims.

Nico

Nico has a condition that causes hind limb weakness.... but this certainty doesn’t stop him! Nico swims each week to help maintain his leg muscles and strength.  When Nico first started Hydrotherapy he was very weak and his walks were very limited, he now uses a hind quarter harness to help him get around and his owners report that he has gone from very short walks to anything up to 40mins! Unfortunately Nico is no longer able to chase his favourite ball at home but he has found that this is something he can do in the pool! We are very pleased that we have been able to help Nico feel better and hope this continues.

Roxy Fidkin (pictured left)

Roxy has been coming to Chapel Farm Rehab since September. When Roxy first arrived she was unable to walk unassisted due to a disc condition. We have been treating Roxy twice per week with physiotherapy and hydrotherapy along with lots of hard work and patience from her owners. We are now very happy to report that she has made major improvements and can now walk unassisted for short periods. We hope she continues the hard work and makes even more progress. Good luck

Timmy
We bought our Labrador puppy in 2009 and at this time we did not know he had anything wrong. Our vet noticed that he was not walking right and was x-rayed and diagnosed with hip dysplasia. We were recommended Chapel Farm and started treatment straight away. Clair assessed him and he was unable to stretch his back legs out or walk straight like other dogs. The treatment and attention they gave him was wonderful. They built up his muscles and now he is fit and strong. He is able to go on walks again and run and jump like other dogs. The physiotherapy and hydrotherapy have done all this to him. The girls work so hard and what they have done for my dog is just wonderful.  I could not recommend a better place to go. Thank you so much Pam and Philip

Jess
At the age of six months our baby girl - Jess suffered a serious leg injury, so serious whereby she nearly lost her back left leg. Thanks to the expertise and help of our vet and his team they quickly referred us to a specialist Orthopedic surgeon, they managed to save her leg (with some help of metal work and screws). Jess was in hospital for one week and had to stay in a cage at home for eight weeks.
Time has passed by and at the age of 7 Jess started to become lame on her leg. Our vet recommended hydrotherapy and physiotherapy, after visiting several specialists we opted for Chapel Farm for obvious reasons...
Immediately Clair and Emma got on a level and acknowledged Jess - very important, we loved the fact that they were able to provide Jess with both hydro and physio, and that they accompanied Jess in the pool. Clair had an initial consultation with Jess and then recommended a tailored plan of therapy. Jess started physio and hydro in Sept 09'. Even though Jess was aided in the pool, Jess was very reluctant to swim. Having had several sessions at Chapel Farm Jess decided to swim in the sea for the first time whilst on a family holiday this year! Never let it be said that you can't teach an old dog new tricks!!

To say the treatment Jess has received from Chapel Farm has helped would be an understatement, it has made a world of difference to Jess. She enjoys swimming in the local river whilst retrieving her ball. She can weight bear on her leg and more importantly appears to be a lot happier :O) THANK YOU Chapel Farm....

Katy

My dog Katy was involved in a road traffic accident and received multiple fractures to her pelvis. When Katy started coming to Chapel Farm Rehab she was stiff and painful on both her hind legs and had trouble exercising freely. Following treatment of ultrasound, hydrotherapy and therapeutic exercises she slowly turned into a different dog. She is much happier and is now beginning to run around like a young dog should! I am very grateful for all the hard work that Clair and Emma have put in to Katy’s rehabilitation to get her fit and healthy again.

Nico

When we found out Nico had CDRM we were devastated. We didn't know what to expect or which way to turn. Chapel Farm was highly recommended to us by a friend and it was the best phone call we ever made.

We booked Nico in for his first appointment and when we arrived we were met by both Claire and Emma who made us feel very welcome. Nico was assessed and it was at that assessment that his condition was explained to us and what to expect and more importantly what we could do to help Nico.

Nico had never been in deep water before so on his first session Nico was given lots of encouragement and support to enter the water. He eventually got in and he hasn't looked back since.

Nico thoroughly enjoys his hydrotherapy sessions and this has improved his quality of life dramatically. Nico can now play and fetch his ball again which makes him very happy.

Chapel farm have been a life line for us and Nico. I don't know what we would have done without their encouragement and support.

Thank you Claire & Emma
